Combining Different Types of Items

One of the easiest ways to improve the way your show looks is by combining different types of pieces.  We have all ready talked about spreading items out to give this effect. Now we are going to make the wall of fire from the ground up in this same area.

Cakes or Aerial Shells with Fountains

Filling in the space underneath cakes or aerial shells.
The easiest way to build this wall of fire is by combining fountains with cakes or aerial shells. The idea behind this is to fill the space below where the cake and aerial shells are exploding, with some low level fireworks.

Building Intensity!
With your show you always want to try to build the intensity of a group. By combining these types of item you can do just that. Fountains tend to last longer than cake and aerial shells. By starting the fountain first starts the balls rolling down the hill. As the fountain begins to burn about quarter to half way through you are going to want to light the cakes or shells. When combining fountains with aerial shells it helps to have a mortar rack with the shells fused together, that way you only have to light one fuse.

Give yourself a break
The nice thing about cakes lasting so long with some of them is you can give yourself a breather or time to set something up quickly, before the next group of items. Remember you don't want to have anything lit, that takes the whole momentum of your show and brings it to a screeching halt.

Cakes and Aerial Shells

Finales!
This is a great way to impress your audience. By implementing both cake and aerial shell items you get a lot of big color and sound that can be used for your finale. The only thing to try do do while using this technique is to space items far enough apart so you can see the difference between the two items. Uses some smaller cakes that will shoot lower than the aerial shells cakes in the $1.00 to $12.00 price range will do fine for this.

Building Intensity!
By using these type of items you can also build up intensity if you have the right mortar racks and fuse. To pull this off it will take a little experience with the cake that you are going to start the combination with. You need to get an idea of the duration of the piece so you can start your shells in the rack of so they end about the same time. You don't want to create a hill with the intensity level that is why you need to know how long the cake is and about how much time is needed for your shells to go off. If you  really want to do this up right and make it easier for you, you will need a mortar rack and some quick match The idea is to use Quick Match to light all of your shells off at relatively the same time, just before the cake is done.

Mines and Mortar Shells
This combination uses two of the nicest items on the market today, the mines and Mortar shells. This combo works well when used in a mortar rack that is two or more wide. In one row place the mines, and in the other place a mortar shell of a complimenting color. When you fuse the items together try get the fuse to the mine and shell to light at the same time so that both items happen right after each other. You can also use the Piggyback technique discussed in this section of the website.

A Little Bit Of Everything

By combining the three items discussed above into one package you get a perfect finale. Also you have reached your goal of building the wall of fire, that is used by profession Pyrotechnicians in their own shows. By combining items as described here this will have your audience cheering screaming for more.

Roman Candles and Fountains

If you want to implement a quiet or different transition in your show by combining these two items you can achieve this effect. The idea is to mix together roman candles and fountains for give a more of a ground with little aerial display. This is also a good technique to use if you are trying to choreograph your show with music and there is a a soft part in the piece you chose. This is also a great way to take the show from the ground to the sky without jumping to the sky really quick.
