Fountain Techniques
Trying to fit fountains in your show I think is
one of the most difficult things to do right. If you live in a state that
only allows safe and sane items then fountains are going to be the biggest
item you can get. While they are now coming out with 200 Gram and 500 Gram
fountains. Black cat has a package of fountains from its gold collection
Duplicate and Multiply
When using fountains in your display you need to follow one single
rule, to have fountains with an impact; Duplicate and Multiply. 1.
Duplicate, the number of like fountains, instead of firing one World Class
Snow Storm buy 2 or 3 and space them out. 2. Multiply, Snow Storm is a
white waterfall fountain, try to find some type of fountain that
compliments the Snow Storm, maybe one that is multi-colored. With this
complimenting fountain make sure to Duplicate. So for example lets
say that you got 2 Snow Storms and 3 Black Cat Tie-Dye fountains, spread
the Tie-Dye fountains out with the Snow Storm between them. Next using
either Yellow Visco, Black match, or Quick Match, depending on distances
fuse them together so that you can light all of them approximately at the
same time.
Fountain Rack?
I have been experimenting with angled fountain racks. What if you
could setup 3 fountains so that you could fan them, and then setup
multiple fan racks to produce an even better effect. I completed a cake /
fountain rack this year that we will be using to hold 2 fountains and 1
cake.
Shoot more than just fountains
While shooting a few fountains at a time in either a rack setup or in
a front setup, try to add in other types of effects to transition to
fountains and from fountains to shells or other aerial effects. In
choreographing your show to music use fountains for slow melodic parts of
the music and use the transition type items; roman candles, mines, to
represent a change in tempo, accent, or change of volume. Back to Advance Techniques |
