 Planning Shows with Multiple Lighters

I discussed in my beginners section the benefits of having multiple people light the fireworks in your show off. Now were are going to discuss how you can plan to utilize multiple people in your show to keep the intensity of the show high, and a reasonable length in time. The nice thing about planning out your show is you can get a feel of exactly how many people you will need to recruit to help you with your show. To make things run more smoothly if you have a set of walkie talkies lying around the house use them to try to coordinate between areas of firing. You need to communicate with other lighters if they don't know the order. Another way to make sure everyone take turns is to write the firing order down on paper and have them try to remember where they are suppose to light different items.

Here are some tasks that you can assign to people when you plan your show.

  • Reload Shells in the Mortar Pipes - This is perhaps the most important task. With Reloadable Mortar Kit you need to individually load each shell if you have a bunch of shells in your show this can be time consuming especially if you picked out groups of shells you want to set off at one time.

  • Light Mortar Shells After Loader - In my show I used two 5 - shot mortar racks and one 3 - shot, for each of the racks we had one person be the lighter at each rack. This way they didn't have to look out for other items that were lit. The loader was in charge of the two 5 shot racks.

  • Stations - Stations are handy they serve two main uses in my shows and order to which items are fired and to give me an idea of how many people I need to light the items. I have 8 cakes on each 1'x4' piece of plywood. I assign one person to each station

  • Rockets - Rockets are nice to have a constant pace throughout the show. I have one person that is in charge of lighting and loading rockets. He or she also serves as a watch to make sure if  we are little slow with lighting stuff that he or she makes sure the intensity doesn't die down. You can also have this person in charge of roman candles to or assign another person just for that depending on how many you have.

  • Roman Candle and Fountain Fronts - This person is in charge of lighting all low level items that you have in your show. His job is to be the base of the wall of fire, and light items that correspond to what is going on above him.

As you can see the number of people can increase depending on how much stuff you have to light. If you have any ideas about other people that you think would be needed to run a smoother show email me at MultipleLighter@FireworkInfo.com.
