One the field safety
To make sure that everyone have a safe and joyous holiday
there are a few safety guidelines that you should follow:
-
Eye Protection: This is a must for anyone who is
lighting the display. The last things you want is to damage your eye so
that, you could no longer enjoy watch fireworks. This is the one safety
related thing that I bet most people do not do.
-
A Ready Fire Extinguishing Device: This is a must.
You can either use a hose, fire extinguisher, or a bucket of water. This
is use to put out any fires that may be started due to debris falling from
the sky. Use a bucket of water as your last resort. You want to make sure
that you have enough water.
-
First Aid Kit: Make sure that there is a first aid
kit available is for some reason there is an accident. You want to have
band aids, eye drops, etc. Anything that would take care of an emergency.
Having someone that knows first aid would also be recommended.
-
Cell Phone, or Walkie Talkie: When shooting display
away from people and telephones it is a good idea to have communication
with someone that has a phone or can get access to one very quickly. A
cell phone is good but make sure it gets reception. This is just in case
of a major accident.
-
Ready Box : If you are going to have shells lying
around the area that you are going to be lighting fireworks make sure to
have a metal or plastic box with a lid to store the extra shells so that
they are not prematurely ignited by fall out.
If you have a safety tip that you would use in the field please email it
to me.
