Single Shot Mortars or Reloadable?
To reload or not to reload that is the question? In the
world of consumer fireworks there are two types of mortars that are
available to you; single shot and reloadable mortars. Both of these types of
mortars produce a similar
effect so which one should you get?
What you chose all depends on how you are going to setup your show. If you are going
to fuse everything together on a board, or you don't like the
idea of lighting the reloadable mortars, then the single shot mortars are
the way to go. If you don't mind reloading multiple mortar shells then reloadable kits
are the way to go. I am going to compare the two types or mortars together so you can
see a comparison of the two.

reloadable kits. |
As you can see the only main difference between the two
types of mortars is
the price per shot. If your budget is a factor in planning your show
and you want a longer show I recommend a kit since the price per shell is
lower.
If you are looking for a type of effect that you
might see at a professional show for ex. Crackle Delight then you have to
get a Single Shot Mortar, even though reloadable mortars have a crackle it
is a lot different than the Crackle Delight. The effects that are in the
single shot tubes are better than reloadable kits in the #400, and #500
size tubes.
