Connecting Fuses Together

Imagine this you are setting your display off for your friends and family. You go through your entire show with out a problem and you go to light your finale. Your finale starts going, but then something happens and it stops. A faulty connection between two types of fuse was the cause. This article talks about how to join two separate fuses together, so that they are sure to light. We will be adding an article on advance fuse connecting of more than two soon.
Note: When using Fast Visco follow normal Visco fusing.

Joining Like Fuse
Visco to Visco:
To properly connect Visco to Visco you want to make sure to cut the ends at an angle to expose more powder. You want to over lap the fuses by at least 2 inches this way if the fuse does not catch at the beginning it should at one point. To secure the fuses together use either masking tape or twist ties to connect the two fuses together. When using masking tape, tape the whole length of the overlap fuse.
Sticky Match to Sticky Match: Connecting Sticky Match to Sticky Match is the easiest of fuses to connect all you have to do it to overlay two separate pieces of Sticky Match to transfer fire from one fuse to the other.

Quick Match to Quick Match: The best way to do this is to cut the Kraft paper back 2 inches on either side and insert the fuses into each other. Tape around the Kraft paper, but not tight. You want to make sure that no gases can escape from the connect point as that will cause the fuse to slow down.

Black Match to Black Match: When connecting Black Match to another piece of Black Match  over lap the two pieces by two inches and tape in the center, or use a twist tie.

Combining Different Fuse

Visco to Black Match: To properly connect Visco to Black Match over lap the fuses by 2 inches. Tape the two fuses together in the center. Be careful not to tape them together two tight Black Match does not like being taped together. If you use twist ties to connect the two this is not a problem with being to tight.
Visco to Quick Match: To connect Visco to Black Match cut the paper tube off about an inch and a half, overlap the Black Match and Visco about two inches. Crunch the paper around when the Visco and Black Match overlap and tape it closed. Once the Visco gets inside the pipe it should light the Black Match.
Visco to Sticky Match: To connect Visco to Sticky Match you want to cut the Sticky Match at an angle so that you can slip the Visco into the powder center about 2 inches. Then tape the Sticky Match shut, this will prevent powder from leaking out.
Sticky Match to Black Match:  Insert about two inches of the Black Match into the center of the sticky match. Close connection with a piece of tape to seal in the powder.

Sticky Match to Quick Match:

Cut back about 3 inches of the paper tube casing and insert about two inches into the center of the sticky match. Close connection with a piece of tape to seal in the powder.
Quick Match to Black Match: This is just like attaching the Quick Match to Visco.  Again remember to not tape to tight.

Attaching Fuse to E-Matches

Visco to E-Matches: To connect Visco to E-Matches. The easiest way to do this is so cut the Visco at an angle to expose more powder. Take the head of the e-match and tape it next to the angled cut on the edge of the visco.
Sticky Match to E-Matches: To connect Sticky Match to E-Matches. The easiest way to do this is to insert e-match into the the powder core of the sticky match and tape the connection closed to prevent gases from escaping.
Quick Match to E-Matches:   To connect Quick Match to E-Matches. The easiest way to do this is to insert e-match into the paper tubing and then tape the end shut and lightly tape around where the head of the e-match is so that it will hold the e-match close to the black powder coated string.
Black Match to E-Matches: To connect Black Match to E-Matches. The easiest way to do this is to wrap the Black Match around the tip of the e-match and then loosely tape the Black Match there.
