Advance Fusing Techniques 18 Shot Angle
Simultaneous Shots

This fusing setup was used in this past 4th of July's firework display. The effect we wanted was the simultaneous launching of 18 shells at once creating a full barrage of colors in the sky. We used 12 triples and 6 doubles and single shells. You can use any shells you want you just have to make sure that their fuses are long enough, small festival balls won't work to good here. If at any time you get to the limit of the number of shells you want just stop going further into the directions. Also with this effect make sure to be using a lighting method that is sure to get all of the fuses lit, propane torch/flare.

1. Fuse together the shells into triples.
The best way to do this is to take masking tape. Their are generally two sizes if you have the larger size you will need to cut the pieces in half. You want to group your shells into flights of three. If you want to have them fired at the same time it won't really matter what you put with what.  If you wanted a slower effect you would care about what goes into the triples. The easiest way to fuse these shells together is to hold the fuses so that they line up and rap a single piece of masking tape around 1-2" from the top of the fuse.

2. Fuse the first and last 3 groups together.
The next step is to take the two groups of three that you create and create two groups of nine.  Take the first three groups an hold them together so that all the fuses are about equal, take two pieces of masking tape that is about 2" long and wrap the groups to from a single bundle about where you tapes the fuses together before.

3. Combine the 2 bundles of 9 into one.
The final step to fuse this rack this way is to take both of the bundles of nine hold them together so that they are even. Wrap two or three pieces of masking tape around all of the fuses. This fuse you will tape in two position using the specified amount of masking tape at both locations

4. Close up of the finished fuse bundle
Here is a close up of the fuse bundle you can see the last taping of the fuse you taped in two locations this will help make sure that the fuse will indeed ignite like it is suppose to do.

5. Setup the Finale rack
With all of the shells fused so that they would all go off about the same time, you want to make sure that the rack is very well secured. We used 4 -3ft lengths of 3/4" rebar to make sure this would not tip.

Again make sure to use a lighting device that is hot enough to catch all of the fuses, the last thing you want is for a shell not to go off.
