2004 Professional Display

These are pictures of some of the Class "B" fireworks and racks that I used for this years professional display. I only shot a few after the forth to try to get used to what it is like to be around these shells when the go off.  I will add new pictures of racks when they are built to this section or a 2005 section depending when I get around to it.

These pictures are of the 3" rack that I just built. The mortars are from Mighty Mite. The unique thing about these mortars that I got from Mighty Might are that they are made out of a single piece of HDPE.  The pictures on the right shows the rack ready to fire the shells I got. In all I got 22 - 3" shells , 2 Titanium Salutes and the rest were a bunch of different color effects.

The shells that are in the ready box (left) are after half of the shells I got were all ready shot. Notice the red covers over the black match fuse to prevent from accidentally igniting the shell.  The color shells are from Flower Basket, and only have a 2 second fuse, however I found some that you can get far away from and some you have enough time to take one step before it went off. These shells had a wide varied of effect some of the effects that I got were 1/2 one color & 1/2 another color, glitter, strobes, peony, and chrysanthemums. There were also effects that I have not seen in consumer level shells that I had, which were unique. The effects in these shells were amazing, each 3" shell cost me $2.75 per shell which is about what most good consumer shells cost per shell. Some other distributors in the state of Pa have the shells as cheap as $2.00 per 3" shell.

These are pictures of the two 3" Titanium Salutes that I set off. These shells have silver tails to them, look at the red paper on the knob at the top of the shell, when the fuse burns it lights the tail. The fuse on these shells was interesting, there were 3 separate strands of fuse made into one. Instead of a single piece of black match.

On the color shells they were labeled so that you knew what you were setting off. Again the  effects that the three inch color shells had were amazing. In all the flower basket shells that I can get have 30 different effects per case with 12 titanium salutes. J & J Pyrotechnics mixes these cases so that you get a good selection.

The mortar on the left is a 3" mortar and the mortar on the right is a 4" mortar. The 3" mortar is 18" tall and the 4" mortar is 24" tall. These mortars are both from Mighty Might Mortars.  I have to get a bunch more mortars for next 4th of July, so that I don't have to reload between shots. Mighty Mite recommends a delay between shots of 1 minute for each inch of the shell. So with the 3" shell I would have to wait 3 minutes. This waiting to reload would get very boring between shots. Next 4th of July I think I am only going to stick with Professional shells, probably will shoot up to 5" shells. When I get more pictures of professional shells and racks I will put them up.
